Vicki Ingham: About the Author
With nearly 40 years in publishing, Vicki Ingham has researched and written about art history, architectural history, interior decorating, crafts, gardening, and floral design, as well as profiles of artists, architects, and interior designers.
For most of her career, she served as a staff editor and writer at Southern Progress Corp. in Birmingham, Alabama, and at Meredith Corp. in Des Moines, Iowa. Her interest in Lucille Douglass grew out of her art history master’s thesis on the Birmingham Art Club and its role in the founding of the Birmingham Museum of Art.
In 2004, the Birmingham Historical Society offered Vicki the opportunity to develop the profiles into a book to accompany an exhibition at the Birmingham Public Library. The project turned up more information (and questions) about Lucille than could be included in the book, and
Born and raised in Virginia, Vicki earned a BA degree in anthropology, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Delaware. She received a master’s in art history from the University of Alabama at Birmingham-University of Alabama. After leaving Meredith in 2008, she wrote for Cottage Journal, dsm magazine, Celebrate magazine, and others. She has also enjoyed modest success as an artist and is particularly fond of Italy and the Italian language.
